BodyWork, Rehab & Conditioning

BraveHooves offers a variety of options to assist your horse or dog in feeling their best and functioning as close to pain free as possible.

Equine Bodywork

Full body session & Bemer $75

  • An equine bodywork session is an all-inclusive therapy option that is tailored to each horse. Varied techniques will be applied as needed. These include sports massage, myofascial massage, cranio-sacral therapy, light therapy, kinesiology taping, and energy work. Saddle Assessments and ground exercises may also be utilized. This is the best option for prevention care, rehab plans, injury recovery, or muscle conditioning.

PRE-competition MASSAGE & Bemer $30

  • This option is comparable to a Swedish massage for humans. A light-touch, feel-good massage session that promotes blood flow and endorphin release, but does not address rehab of trouble spots. This can be a good option for horses who have an upcoming show or event or for senior horses who are in hospice care.

Bemer Therapy

This is a good option if your horse would benefit from regular therapy that increases blood flow; pre-travel, post travel, injury recovery, during medication treatment, pre-competition, post competition, or adjusting to a new environment are all examples of when regular BEMER therapy is beneficial. It is also good preventative care. In some cases, consistent BEMER therapy may be necessary prior to bodywork on rehab cases of the extreme nature, to help ease the nervous system.

1x weekly $25/session

2x weekly $20/session

3x weekly $15/session

4x or more weekly $10/session

Muscle Balancing & Body Awareness

Groundwork session $35

Under saddle session $45

These sessions can include stretching, ProSix wrap work, Bemer therapy, and specific exercises to help balance and rebuild the muscles. Emotional awareness and healing techniques may also be utilized when helpful to the horse. These options are recommended for prevention care or after rehab bodywork sessions have been completed and conditioning can begin.

However, there are times where emotional and gentle groundwork may be necessary before rehab bodywork is performed.

Saddle Assessment

Fit Evaluation $30

Saddle fit is a critical aspect of your horse’s comfort as well as their muscle balance and health. A poor fitting saddle can cause muscles to get pinched, weaken, and atrophy which will lead to further muscle restrictions throughout the body. Ill fitting tack can also prevent full muscle healing and can stagnate results in rehab cases.

I am not a saddle sales rep. I do not have saddles for sale. I do have the knowledge to assess your current saddle and identify problem areas. This information will help lead you in the right direction on your saddle search.

Canine Massage and Therapy

Massage $30

A full body massage can help alleviate aches and pains, enhance injury/surgery recovery, or be utilized as prevention health care. A canine massage session can also include stretching and exercises to develop range of motion if necessary to the dog.

Rehab Package

$400

3 bodywork sessions within 10 days, 10 days of Bemer therapy, 2 groundwork balancing sessions, and 2 under saddle balancing sessions.

This is the best deal for your horse if they are sore, lame or recovering from injury.

Soulful Horsemanship Lessons

BraveHooves teaches lessons that concentrate on building the horse/human relationship and honoring the soul of the horse.

My goal is to inspire students to celebrate their individuality (and their horse’s) while learning how to become knowledgeable, confident and ethical members of the horse industry.

I specialize in beginner lessons and train with an emphasis on +R type methods of learning.

You’ll get much more than riding during lessons with BraveHooves, in fact riding is a privilege, not a guarantee.

The SOUL part: My students learn about body language, physical and emotional awareness, boundaries, consent, and trust.

The HORSEMANSHIP part: Students learn anatomy, nutrition, tack, how to identify and apply different types of training, groundwork, riding and driving. I enjoy teaching all around care and what it really takes to own a horse.

Lessons with your personal horse are tailored to your level of experience and your goals for your horse while also keeping the horse’s emotional welfare in mind. Building a relationship with your horse comes first before human goals are sought after. Gaining confidence on your horse, helping them tackle a particular skill (like trailer loading or a better “whoa” response), or improving their condition and fitness are examples of what you and your horse could gain from lessons with BraveHooves.

I have been riding for 20 years. I first learned to ride on my grandpa’s cattle ranch in western NE and I’ve been mostly self-taught via books and videos. I took several riding/training classes in college and was on the IHSA hunt seat and western riding teams. I now continue to improve my own horsemanship and riding by taking lessons and attending clinics. I am always open to new information and adapting my teaching to provide a better learning experience for both the horse and the student.

I have a unique viewpoint on teaching due to my education in equine bodywork and my knowledge of biomechanics.
